Bollards To That

This needs some explaining.. in Manchester there's this set of rising bollards that move up and down only for buses. They rise up automatically after buses have passed. Even with hundreds of warning signs, this doesn't stop people attempting to get through. Footage from the manchester evening news...

Stupid people, but a stupid (and dangerous) system as well.

These are great and helps make Manchester city centre a great place to walk around safely.

It's not a dangerous system - that's like saying it's dangerous to have footpaths next to the road. Only totally stupid and arrogant drivers ever hit these things.

...and the drivers are mostly women! No shock there.

What a brilliant and simple invention. Weston-super-Mare needs one in the High Street where some people can't read 'buses only'!

What kind of idiot attempts to get past that with his baby child in the back?!!

And even if they do happen to be incredibly lucky and get in...whats the chance of them getting back out again?!

Of course these are not automatic.

I have actually had discussions with people who control these.
They watch the vehicles and deliberately raise them to cause damage to cars.

You notice they only come up enough to catch the underside of the car.

They come from the same mold (mould?) as traffic wardens.

    Be warned.

These are not controlled by a person watching a screen, it is weight sensitive. Sensors are placed just in front of the device, the weight of the bus lowers it,a car does not have the same weight. What idiot thinks that there's a person sitting on his butt just waiting for another idiot to come by just so he can cause expensive damamge!

If its done on weight, then how comes the white van in the last clip doesnt get through? its bigger than the first red van.
    hmmmmmm.

you dimwits. Buses have an electronic tag which is read by a sensor and lowers the bollards.

Idiots try to follow the bus through thats how they get stuck.
